The softness of spring
Each painting in the spring collection holds a feeling of softness in the landscape, with colours drawn from a palette of anthraquinone blue. The tactility of each stroke of paint with this deep indigo hue captures a dark horizon, caught between a bright and contrasting sky and sea. Rich hues of green and subtle colours of sand form studies from the west coast - simple observations across the landscape.
A recent residency at Glebe House, creating a series of works on paper with a new palette of green and deep blue. A brush stroke of colour captures spring bluebells in the valley, bright morning skies and the lightness of rolling hills. Noticing the sounds of nature so different to being at the edge of the ocean. There’s a calm in the softness of green hills and early morning light. The collection of works on paper are available at Glebe House, Devon.
