Sea and Form

August’s painterly light and cool tinted breeze; the month between summer and autumn, the days that promise change. The sea endlessly brings something new to the land - a late summer swell or a cold wind brushing its surface, the stillness and weightlessness of slow, thoughtful days. Sun and poetic shadows highlight the forms of the landscape.

This new collection is drawn from the quiet of early mornings, bathing in rich palettes and the space that the landscape holds at this time of day. Always turning with the seasons, these works capture a feeling of late summer, of the warmth of the land and of cooler days ahead.

Each painting is hand stretched, painted and framed at my Newlyn Studio, where I bring focus to the nature of slowly working by hand, and to the beauty of a simple process, to the ritual of mixing my palette and absorbing the hues of the landscape and the textures of my canvas, Here, the observations and feelings I have gathered unfold through the movements of my brush and paint.
